TilthIQ is a smart garden planning application built for home gardeners who want to grow with intention. Whether you are managing a few raised beds or multiple growing spaces, TilthIQ helps you plan, track, and optimize every planting from seed to harvest.
Key Features
Multiple Gardens
TilthIQ supports multiple gardens on a single account. Each garden has its own set of locations (raised beds, containers, in-ground rows) and its own planting history. Switch between gardens from the top navigation dropdown. This makes TilthIQ ideal for households with separate growing areas, community garden plot holders, or anyone managing more than one site.
Plantings Tracker
The heart of TilthIQ is the Plantings Tracker — a live view of everything currently growing in your garden. Each planting moves through a defined lifecycle from Planned all the way to Done, with harvest dates automatically calculated from days-to-maturity data in the plant database.
Crop Plan Timeline
The Crop Plan Timeline is a Gantt-chart-style view that lays all your plantings out across the growing season. Color bands indicate active growing phases versus harvest windows, making it easy to spot gaps and plan succession planting.
Companion Planting
TilthIQ includes a companion planting database with rules for beneficial pairings (shown in green) and antagonistic combinations to avoid (shown in red). Warnings appear directly on the Planting Details page so you catch conflicts before they hurt your harvest.
Crop Rotation Tracker
The Crop Rotation Tracker shows which crop families were grown in each bed over multiple seasons. TilthIQ warns you when you are about to repeat a crop family in the same location — a critical strategy for preventing soil-borne disease and nutrient depletion.
Seed Inventory
Track every seed packet you own: variety, quantity, storage location, purchase date, and expiry date. Seed status indicators (Active, Low Stock, Empty, Expired) keep your inventory accurate at a glance.
Care Tasks
TilthIQ automatically generates care task reminders for Watering, Fertilizing, Weeding, and Pruning for each planting based on configurable intervals. The Tasks page organizes them into Due/Overdue, Upcoming, and Completed tabs.
Growing Zones and Frost Dates
Enter your zip code and TilthIQ determines your USDA hardiness zone, last frost date, and first frost date — giving you precise planting windows for cool-season and warm-season crops.
Garden AI Assistant
The AI assistant can answer growing questions, enrich plant data from the web, and help you plan your season intelligently. Free users get 5 queries per day. Garden Pro and Garden Team subscribers get unlimited access.
Team Sharing
Garden Team subscribers can invite family members, community garden participants, or farm staff to collaborate on shared gardens with role-based permissions.
