Shared and Team Gardens
Team gardens allow multiple TilthIQ users to collaborate on a shared growing space. This is ideal for family gardens, community plots, farm crews, and school gardens.
Requirements
Team gardens require a Garden Pro or Garden Team subscription. The Free plan is limited to personal, single-user gardens.
Creating a Team
To create a team, navigate to Account > Teams > New Team. Enter a team name and description. Once created, you become the team Owner and the team appears in your Teams list.
A team can have one or more shared gardens associated with it. When you add a garden to a team, all team members can view and interact with it based on their role.
Inviting Members
From your team's Members page, click + Invite Member and enter the email address of the person you want to invite. They will receive an email with a link to accept the invitation.
- If they already have a TilthIQ account, they are added immediately upon accepting
- If they do not have an account yet, the invite link walks them through registration first
Invitations expire after 7 days. You can resend or cancel pending invites from the Members page.
Team Roles
| Role | Permissions |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control — manage garden, members, billing, delete team |
| TeamLeader | Add/remove members, edit garden settings, manage plantings |
| Member | View gardens, add and update plantings, manage tasks |
Owners and TeamLeaders can change any member's role at any time from the Members page.
Viewing Team Gardens
When a team garden is shared with you, it appears in the navbar garden switcher alongside your personal gardens. You can switch to it just like any other garden.
Removing Members
Owners and TeamLeaders can remove members from the Members page. Removed members lose access to the team garden immediately. Their personal data (personal gardens, seeds, profile) is not affected.
Garden Team Plan Benefits
The Garden Team subscription tier is designed specifically for shared gardens and includes:
- Unlimited team members per team
- Full role-based access control
- Shared task and planting history
- Everything included in Garden Pro
Tip: Even on a Garden Pro plan, you can share gardens with one or two trusted collaborators. For larger groups or commercial use, Garden Team is the right tier.
