Managing Your Gardens

Managing Your Gardens

The Gardens section of TilthIQ lets you organize all your growing spaces. Whether you have a single backyard garden or multiple separate growing sites, this page explains how to manage them effectively.

The My Gardens Page

Navigate to Gardens > My Gardens to see all the gardens associated with your account. Each garden card shows:

  • Garden name and description
  • Number of locations and active plantings
  • The current active garden indicator

The Active Garden

TilthIQ operates around a single active garden at a time. All pages — Plantings, Locations, Tasks, Crop Plan — show data for the active garden only.

The active garden name is displayed in the navbar garden switcher (the dropdown next to the TilthIQ logo). Click it to quickly switch to a different garden without leaving the current page.

To permanently change which garden is shown by default, click Set as Active on any garden card on the My Gardens page.

Creating a New Garden

Click + New Garden on the My Gardens page. Give your garden a name and optional description. Once created, you can begin adding locations and plantings to it immediately.

Tip: Use descriptive names that reflect the physical location or purpose: "Raised Beds — Back Yard," "Herb Patio," or "Community Plot B7" are all clear and specific.

Editing and Deleting Gardens

Click the edit icon on any garden card to update its name or description. To delete a garden, use the delete icon — this also removes all plantings, locations, and tasks associated with that garden.

Warning: Deleting a garden is permanent and cannot be undone. Export your planting data before deleting if you want to keep records.

Naming Conventions

A few tips for keeping your garden list organized:

  • Include the location or season year in the name when relevant
  • Use short names — they display better in the navbar switcher
  • Avoid emoji in garden names if you plan to use PDF export
